When people talk about ease of use, they often gravitate toward Wix because of its drag-and-drop simplicity. And they’re not wrong—Wix is quite literally built to simplify your life.
But here’s the catch: simplicity comes at a cost. Wix can feel like hitting a wall once you need something custom—like adjusting layouts or integrating advanced tools.
For example, one of my clients needed a custom layout for showcasing projects. Wix couldn’t handle the flexibility they wanted in any pre-made templates.
Webflow, on the other hand, has a learning curve—it’s not something you’ll master in a day. But the possibilities are endless once you get the hang of it (thanks to Webflow University).
2. Design Freedom
Wix templates are like ready-to-eat meals—fast, convenient, and great when in a hurry. But they can feel stifling if you need complete creative control.
With Webflow, there are no templates unless you choose to use one. You start with a blank canvas, which is both terrifying and liberating at the same time.
Obviously, you could argue that someone who wanted creative control shouldn't have been on Wix in the first place and that it isn't a fair comparison. And yes, I would completely agree with you on all points.

This is where Webflow outshines Wix by a mile. Webflow’s CMS is built for managing dynamic content—think blogs, portfolios, or even entire product catalogs.
For instance, I’ve used it to build a 2,000-page real estate site, with each property dynamically pulling images, prices, and descriptions from the CMS.
On the other hand, Wix is great for static websites. But once your content grows, you’ll quickly hit its limits.
4. SEO Tools
Wix has basic SEO tools, and they’re fine for small businesses. You can edit titles, meta descriptions, and even some alt text. But Wix’s heavier code and slower load times can hurt your rankings.
With Webflow, SEO isn’t an afterthought; it’s built into the platform. You can manage schema, optimize performance, and even design for Core Web Vitals without external plugins.
5. E-Commerce
Let’s get one thing straight: Wix can handle small stores. If you’re selling 10 handmade items or running a local bakery, Wix’s e-commerce tools will probably work for you.
But if you’re serious about e-commerce, Webflow offers much more customization. Of course, if you are an e-commerce brand, you're better off using Shopify.

Wix hosting is adequate for small projects. If you’re building a personal blog or portfolio, you won’t notice much difference. But if your site starts attracting more traffic, things can get slow.
